Ajmer is an oasis surrounded by green hills, south west of Jaipur. Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan established the city in the 7th Century A.D. At present it is a pilgrimage of significance for both Hindus and Muslims, who travel to the Darga Sharif-Tomb of the great philanthropist Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. Ajmer has been a center of culture and education for a long period.
