Formerly known as Mewar, this ancient Rajput state is only 170 km from New Delhi. Alwar is nestled between a cluster of small hills of the Aravali range. Occupying the center stage of these hills is a massive ancient fort narrating the grandeur of the Rajput clans.
The fiercely beautiful tiger can be seen in the wild in the Sariska National Park along with many species of birds and animals. Sariska is tiger sanctuary established under the Project Tiger scheme in 1955 in the dry deciduous forest of the region. September to February is the ideal season for visiting Sariska.
