| The heavily fortified fort, Bala Qila, has 51 small turrets and 15 large towers. The towers have 446 holes through which the army fired at the enemy below. The arsenal remained stored with ammunition and weapons. The fort extends 5 kms from north and south while 1.6 kms from the east and west. It is about 595 meters above the city. Bala Qila could be entered through its six gates, the Suraj Pol, Laxman Pol, Chand Pol, Krishna Pol and Jai Pol.
