Introduction
Built in 16th century, the Ettumanoor Temple – Kottayam is located 12 kilometers from the Kottayam town. The Shiva temple showcases traditional style of Kerala architecture. The other deities enshrined in the temple are Bhagavati, Sastha, Ganapathy and Yakshi.
The Ettumanoor Temple – Kottayam is designed with carvings from the Ramayana, Bhagvatha and Krishna Leela. Other mural paintings and sculptures of the temple also depict scenes from Hindu mythology. Images of deities are painted on the walls of the temple. The conical roof of the shrine is copper plated and gives a majestic look to the temple.
The Arattu Festival of the temple is celebrated on a large scale every year. The Thulabharam ritual is one of the most important rituals of the temple.
