Introduction
Built by Maharaja Man Singh in the 16 th century, the beautiful architecture of Amer Fort, Jaipur is a combination of white marble and red sandstone. The construction of the fort began in 1592 by Man Singh I but was completed by his successor Jai Singh I. It was originally the old fort of the Kachhwala clan of Amber.
Description
The unique style of architecture makes Amer Fort, Jaipur distinct from the other forts of Jaipur. The style and designs of the fort represents an amalgam of Hindu and Muslim architectures. Built on a hilltop, the fort has an uneven rocky exterior and smooth marvelous interior. One has to ride on an elephant to reach the fort.
The Diwan-Aam or Hall of Public Audience and the Diwan-e-Khas, the Hall of Private Audience, Sheesh Mahal and Sukh Niwas are beautiful structures within the Amer Fort complex.
How to get there
Amber Fort is 11 kilometers from the city of Jaipur. Jaipur is well connected to the rest of the country by road, rail and air. The Amber Fort is a 10 minutes walk through the Jai Pol or the Gate of Victory.
