Another tourist attraction is the Gascoyne region, with its Shark Bay World Heritage area and the Ningaloo Marine Park ideal for watching whale sharks and dolphins and snorkelling. The Mid-West region in the Western Australia gets laden with wildflowers from August to November pulling surplus tourist traffic. The Goldfields with its gold mines and the capital city Perth located on the Swan River are other tourist spots in Western region.
Northern Australia stretches itself between the lush green tropical rainforests and spectacular waterfalls among the savannah woodlands and the vast Simpson Desert.The Southern part of Australia is the country's driest region with 60 percent of the state enveloped with desert. South Australia is also the center for wine production in Australia where you can visit the wineries and sip the sample wines. Driving through barren desert, cruising along the Murray River or relaxing on one of the many fine beaches along the coastline can also be your leisure activities.
