Introduction to Chini ka Rauza
Built in 1635, Chini ka Rauza is the tomb of Allama Afzal Khan Mullah of Shiraz, a renowned poet, scholar and most importantly the Prime Minister in the court of Shah Jahan. Chini ka Rauza is one kilometer from the tomb of Itimad Ud Daulah, on the eastern bank of Yamuna River.
Description of Chini ka Rauza
The Chini ka Rauza, Agra is an example of Persian influence on the Mughal Dynasty. Originally the tomb was enclosed in high walls on all sides and two decorated gateways on the north and south ends. However now all that remains of the beautiful monument is the tomb building. The building itself has traces of Afghan styled architecture with huge domes decorated with geometric and floral arabesque in multicolored tiles.
