Introduction to Dayalbagh gardens
Located 15 kilometers from Agra, the Dayalbagh Gardens is an important tourist site in Agra. Also known as the garden of the Supreme Lord, the Dayalbagh Gardens is considered as an important pilgrimage site. The religious significance of the garden lies in the fact that it is the main centre of the Radhasoami movement.
History of Dayalbagh gardens
Shiv Dayal Sahib is the founder of Radhasoami Sastang Movement who spearheaded this religious organization in 1861. The Radhasoami movement combined tenets from Hinduism, Christianity, Sikhism and Buddhism. Shiv Dayal Sahib popularly called Soami Maharaj is ardently worshipped by his followers at this memorial site.
Description of Dayalbagh gardens
The Radhasoami memorial is made of marble and is 110 feet high. Presently the site is under construction. The intricate pietra dura inlay work on the inner walls of the memorial is beautiful. The gardens are huge and elaborately spread.
