Located at a distance of 3 kilometers from the tomb of Itimad Ud Daulah, the Rambagh Gardens also known as Bagh-i-Gul Afshan in Agra is a beautiful Mughal pleasure garden.
History of Rambagh Gardens
The Rambagh Gardens was created by Babur, the great Mughal Emperor. Later Nur Jahan made considerable changes and additions to the garden. It is believed that Emperor Babur was supposed to have been buried here before being entombed in his tomb in Kabul.
Description of Rambagh Gardens
The Persian influence on the Mughals is resembled in the Rambagh Gardens in Agra. The garden is laid out in the charbagh pattern. The Bagh-i-Gul Afshan is divided by paths and water channels into four mains parts. Numerous fountains, waterways and fountains add to the beauty of the garden. The stairs on either side of the water channels and fountains enhance the intricate designing of the garden.
How to get there
The Rambagh Gardens is situated close to the banks of the river Yamuna. Any local conveyance can be availed of to travel to the tomb. The nearest railway station is the Yamuna Bridge Railway Station. Agra is well connected with all other parts of the country. It is accessible by air from other tourist locations like Khajuraho, Varanasi and Delhi. Agra is connected by road as well.
