Maharana Kumbha built the 37m high and 9 storeyed tower in 1440 A.D. to celebrate his victory over Mahmud Khilji, the ruler of Malwa. The tower is beautified with sculptures of Hindu Gods and Goddesses and has balconies at every floor. It has 157 narrow steps that lead to the terrace. One gets a panoramic view of the city from the terrace.
