Introduction to Jaigarh Fort
The Jaigarh Fort also known as the Fort of Victory was built by Sawai Jai Singh in 1726. The imposing fort stands out in the midst of many hills. Till date, the Jaigarh Fort has the largest wheeled canon on its battlements.
History of Jaigarh Fort
The Jaigarh Fort was built to strengthen the defense of Amer. Jaivana is the world’s largest wheeled canon. It was built in 1720 and is believed to have been used only once where the canon fell 35 kilometers away on a village. However experts say that on inspection they feel that the canon has been used more than once.
Description of Jaigarh Fort
The extremely striking main gate, Dungar Darwaza leads to the majestic Jaigarh Fort. The fort has many water channels which were used for rainwater harvesting. The fort has three underground tanks and the largest tank can hold 60, 00, 000 gallons of water. The armory of the Jaigarh Fort is extremely interesting and showcases different kinds of swords, shields, guns, muskets and even a 50 kilogram cannon ball. Photographs of two of Jaipur's significant Maharajas, Sawai Bhawani Singh and Major General Man Singh II are also found in the museum. The most interesting object at the museum is a circular pack of cards.

The Jaigarh Fort is a 15 kilometers from the city of Jaipur. To reach the Jaigarh Fort one may take a car from Jaipur. Jaipur is accessible from all parts of the country by road, rail and air.
