Rajiv Gandhi National Park is one of the most preferred weekend getaways from Bangalore. A river flows in a meandering manner and it is named as ‘snake river’. This park has a wide variety of flora and fauna, along with different types of wild animals like sambar, wild boars, porcupine, slender loris, etc. If you are a bird lover then you can see variety of bird species like ducks, kites, herons, falcons etc. There are different variety of reptiles apart from snakes and crocodiles. The natural park is located amidst a deciduous forest and also has different variety of trees like teak, sal, rosewood etc. You can reach this natural reserve forest by car or in buses, which are available from Bangalore. Shivanasamudram
This is one of the famous waterfalls and is an ideal destination for weekend getaways from Bangalore. It can be reached by car and if you wish you can also drop in by bus up to a certain point and then reach Shivanasamudram waterfalls.

Mysore
Mysore is located in the outskirts of the main city and is a famous tourist destination. The place has a rich history and there are various places where you can drop in during your trip. Halebid

It has ancient forts, temples etc, visiting which will take you back to the historical era.
