Hyderabad is the capital city of Andhra Pradesh and is known as the “City Of Pearls”. This place was founded by Muhammad Qubli Qutub Shah in 1591 in the banks of River Musi. The Telegu film industry has its base here and it is popularly known as tollywood. It was ruled by the Mughals and you will find a number of ancient forts, palaces, monuments etc which reflects the ancient past. Alampur
Alampur is one of the holy towns where you can drop in for weekend getaways from Hyderabad. This place is often referred to as the Kashi of south, as there are various ancient temples and most of which belongs to Lord Vishnu. This place is located on the bank of Tungabhadra River and it is close to Srisalam.
The architectures of these temples are typical which reflects the Chalukyan architecture, as these were built during the Chalukyan rule, who ruled during 7th century. There are nine temples which are located on the banks of the river and it is culturally very rich. It is well connected from Hyderabad by road and rail and if you wish you can also avail buses to reach Aalmpur, which is an over night journey.
Srisailam
This is also one of the ancient holy town which is located on the banks of Krishna River and has more than twelve jyotirlingas .Jyotirlingas are the sites where Lord Shiva worshipped. The famous temple of Lord Mallikarjuna and Bhramaramba are also located here and is a preferred destination for all religious people. You can also drop in at Srisailam Dam, sanctuarty etc. You can either travel by road, if you love long drives or you can opt for satte buses that ply from Hyderabad to Srisailam almost everyday.
Nagarjunakonda
Nagarjunakonda is one of the most preferred weekend getaways from Hyderabad and is mostly visited by young folks who wish to have some pure fun. There are various places which you can visit during your visit to Nagarjunakonda like the Nagarjunakonda Lake, dam, etc. You can also visit the stupas and statues which reflect about the Buddhist connection of the place.
As it is located near to the state highway, it is better to go by car, but if you wish you can also travel by train and then by hired cars or by ferries which connects the place with the main city.
